White Flower Designs was created in honor of, Mary David Crigler, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend by Taylor Long, her beloved granddaughter. The early onset diagnosis and prolonged suffering of Mary David (also known as “Maw”) at the hands of Alzheimer’s Disease had a profound effect on Taylor and the entire family.
Taylor, a plus size model and senior fashion design student at the University of Cincinnati, always knew she wanted to honor her grandmother but wasn’t quite sure how. During her time at UC, in an entrepreneurship class, is where she realized how she could use her talents, creativity, and fashion industry prowess to honor her Maw, while also raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s. For her class, she was prompted to develop a brand and design a product to be produced and sold in partner boutiques. It was during this period the concept for the brand and inaugural design and print for the “Forget Me Not” scarf was developed, tested and produced. This led to the launch of White Flower Designs in July of 2018.
In the Alzheimer's Community, the White Flower (also known as a "Forget Me Not") signifies the first survivor of Alzheimer's. This disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and it is the only top 10 cause of death in the United States that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed. Since there is no cure 10% of our profits is donated to incredible Alzheimer’s organizations who are working tirelessly to end this disease and support those currently suffering, the first being the Alzheimer’s Association.
We at White Flower Designs are focused on providing stylish accessories and hope that each accessory will leave a memory made to honor those memories that have been lost.
